About Author Cathy Jackson
I am a Midwestern Christian mother of three teenagers and a precocious ten-year-old. Reading is a passion of mine, but I adore writing. Some of the best people have been placed in my life to help me publish my books. They are a blessing and mean more to me than they will ever know. Jennifer Harshman of HarshmanServices.com has been my Editor for the last seven books. Opal Campbell of Videos by O. has designed all of my book teasers and trailers. Three of the most excellent Actors have come alongside my books, too: John Wells, a Multi-Award Winning Actor from Louisville, Kentucky; Tom Proctor, another Actor and Stuntman; and John Thomassen from New York. It is my goal as an Author to write scenes that uplift and encourage along with making one feel the experience. I want readers to finish the books feeling hope, love, and happiness. To date, the books I have published are Inspirational (Christian) Romances but they have a Contemporary Romance feel to them.
Interview Questions:
What is your favorite color?
Red. Definitely red. It’s always been red. There is just something about that color that draws me to it. The brighter the red, and not the orange-red, the more I am tempted.
What are your hobbies?
I should probably have some of those. LOL Reading and church activities. I’m pretty boring.
What is your favorite food?
Chocolate. And pizza. And warm yeasty bread.
Do you have any pets?
Only my children. HAHA!
What is your favorite movie?
The Last of the Mohicans. Or Gary Oldham’s, Dracula. Or Sense and Sensibility. Or the Twilight movies. Really, it depends on the day.
What would be your dream vacation?
A trip to visit David Tennant, wherever he is at the time. Doesn’t matter the time of year. It would be a dream to see him on set and say hello.
What is a personal attribute that you're most proud of?
My husband says it is my compassion. Annabelle Garcia says my smile.
What was your favorite storybook as a child?
The Ugly Duckling. I always felt for the “duckling”. Everyone around him only saw what they wanted, and it was lacking to them. Inside, the ugly duckling knew he was different and grew up to be more than anyone thought he could be. We all have that potential to be something than others see in us.
What genre do you currently write?
Currently I am writing Inspirational Romance that leans toward Contemporary Romance.
What made you want to become a writer?
My mother’s death triggered the writing bug.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Anywhere. Everywhere. Inspiration is often found when I am not looking for it.
What do you like most about writing?
The unbridled rawness of the emotion and meeting new people.
What do you hope to be doing in five years from now?
Staring at the novels that BBC has allowed me to publish through them. They are already written.
What author would you love to co-write a story with?
Anyone that would put up with me. HA!
What obstacles do you run into when you're writing?
The words stop. It happens.
Do you have any routine when you write?
Headphones, music, total focus. I just allow what’s happening as I write to happen and that takes me stepping out of the way.
What are your plans for the future?
Writing, publishing, seeing my children become the best they can be.
If you were trapped on a deserted island with one of your characters, who would it be? Why?
John Westerling. Hands down. His gentle spirit and loving attitude would lead to the best of times. While Daniel Templeman and Luke R’Phael are some of my most favorite characters, I would definitely take John Westerling over them all.
Is there a character in any of your books that you relate to? Why?
I think, in a way, I relate to them all. Well, the female characters any way. A little bit of every one of the women are a piece of me. Evelyn is forthright, like I am. So, maybe, right now, Evelyn Miller from the Bloom Series.
What character do you wish you could be more like? Why?
Again, I think it would be Evelyn Miller. She’s such a strong character. Also, she’s outgoing. Great with people.
Are any characters in your titles based on someone you know? Does that person know they are in your book?
When it comes to personality, no. There is not a single person that any of my characters are based on. The characters, the people, who come to me in the writing, aren’t my own. I feel they are given to me to get to know for a time. I try to do them justice with the writing so others know them too. They never leave me.
Are you attending any book signings in the near future?
Yes. I have one in May and another in October.
